ABOUT LULAMA

Lulama Mali, Founder & CEO of RoundSquare Management, is an author and a Class of 2025 member of the Recording Academy. A retired photographer turned cultural activist and archivist, she brings over 15 years of experience across the South African music industry.

Lulama began her career in Gugulethu, Cape Town, working as an artist manager, A&R and label manager, where she developed a hands-on understanding of artist needs, creative ecosystems and industry infrastructure. Her practice is grounded in talent development, cultural preservation and long-term career thinking.

Deeply committed to discovering and nurturing new talent, particularly women artists, Lulama focuses on connecting independent creatives with meaningful resources and opportunities to realise their visions. This commitment is reflected in her role as a founding member and former deputy chairperson of Women in Music South Africa (WIM SA).

Beyond RoundSquare Management, Lulama remains an active advocate for gender equity, authorship and representation within the music industry. Her work as a cultural commentator, archivist and strategist continues to contribute to more inclusive, informed and sustainable music futures.
